Melatonin is a natural hormone that we all produce at nighttime, to fall asleep.  

But sometimes, our bodies don’t deliver enough sleep-inducing melatonin at bedtime – especially as we age. Adults, primarily over the age of 40, may need melatonin. So do many people who:

• Are exposed to digital screens or other sources of blue light before bed
• Have jetlag or are planning a trip across time zones
• Work evening or night shifts
• Are negatively affected by seasonal changes
• Have a biological sleep clock that’s simply ‘off’

We recommend you take it about half an hour before you want to sleep. To fall asleep faster, avoid screens and bright lights before bed (both suppress melatonin). You may get better results from melatonin if you also take a magnesium supplement.

Do not use melatonin if you are taking immunosuppressive drugs. Do not use melatonin if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not drive or operate machinery for 5 hours after taking melatonin.
